School will be coming to an end before we know it. What will your college students be doing this summer?

Ds19 lost his job of 11 months Easter weekend (layoff of about 20) so has been scrambling; he was able to pick up lifeguarding at his U (8 miles away from home) starting the end of the semester through the summer (and hopefully into next school year). There's also an opportunity to intern at a local art venue, which would be good for his resume (studio art major). And he'll take an astronomy class at the local CC 2 nights a week to complete his science core requirement.

Otherwise he hopes to hang out in our pool.

DsGS (grad student) has about a month until the semester ends. Then he will "only" be working full time in the lab, which he has been doing all year in addition to 2 classes and studying, so it will seem like a break. Next fall he will be doing all of the above plus TA'ing a class AND presenting his oral dissertation, so he'd better enjoy the lighter schedule while he can!

Sorry to hear that Sue. The art internship sounds neat though.

Wow, he's a busy guy! Hope he enjoys the "break" this summer!

Jason has finals the week of May 14. He'll be off a week and then be working up there on a research project, full time for about 8 weeks. Something to do with isolating a certain cancer cell I think. He'll get a small stipend for it. He'll have another week off after that before starting his 2nd year. This summer will be the last summer he has off; once they begin their M2 year they just go directly from that into M3, then M4, then residency. He'll still get time off at Christmas and I assume he'll get some weeks here and there but no more 3 month summer vacation.

DD22 graduates from the teacher credential program June 13th. This week she is applying to teach summer school at a local district. If by some miracle she gets hired, she will probably to 2 3 week sessions. She is supposed to be having surgery sometime this summer (3rd surgery in less than a year). Other than that, she'll probably be spending the summer applying for teaching jobs.

DD19 is done with school May 9th. She'll be back to her movie theater job and she and her friends will be getting a pass for the local water park. I think she is hoping to work as much as she can, can relax as much as possible on her off days. She has to be back to school Aug. 5th.

We are hoping to take a family trip to Disneyland, and possibly go camping. DD22 will stay home with the pets when we camp because in her words "If I wanted to see a tree I would google it".

DD will be taking the NCLEX-PN boards this summer. She seems to have a job lined up at the nursing home where she's been working. There are two positions open, one half time day shift position and one full time pm position. She doesn't know yet what she'll be working but it sounds as though one of those will be hers. SIL will be taking 8 credits this summer, then he's looking for a job in the fall. DS J will be going to school this summer's he should be a full fledged Harley Davidson technician in a little over a year. AND DS Z WILL BE HOME FROM IRAQ/KUWAIT SOMETIME THIS SUMMER!!! Mama is doing the happy dance, no more deployment for at least 12 months after that. We have constantly had one or another of our sons on deployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan since the summer of 2006 with at most 3 months between deployments. Last summer J came home from Afghanistan on August 3 and Z left for Iraq on August 8 I think. Mama needs to be off deployment duty for awhile!

DS22 has his last exam Thursday, comes home Monday for a week and then returns to MI for his summer job--research for a prof in the pharm school.
