My guys are ususally done a couple of days before Christmas Eve. This year, their finals are done on December 16th...yay! They are home for three weeks! Start again I think the 5th of January.

What holiday tradition do you make sure you do just because they like it?

Hi kitty Thanks for these great conversation starters! What will your boys do anything special over their 3weeks? Do they help you at your work? My oldest is taking a week off right now for our thanksgiving holiday ... I have not even asked him yet about Christmas. My youngest will finish his block of classes the first week in December then he will be doing an internship in december here on our island shadowing an internist. Looking forward to his dog turning the whole house upside down... Not much ;) Him being here will sure add to the noise levels! One of his old high school buddies married our next door neighbor's daughter and they gave them their house... Should be an interesting holiday in our culdesac.

DS hasn't said yet. I suspect that he will be coming home the week of the 20th. DD is coming home on the 21st or 22nd and will go back for the 5th. They both are very busy. Christmas break has always been a quiet time. The kids will relax, sleep and eat meals cook for them. They both will probably bring work home.

Last day of finals is Dec 21. He starts back on Jan 17.

I plan to somehow get him something in a slipper for St Nicholas Day, but it might be at home, just not on the right day.

The boys are so fried right now that they will prob veg for at least a week. We are hoping to be done inventory by then, so hopefully they dont have to come to work! My guys didnt have a mid semester break. The youngest's gf is off on a two week holiday with her family, so there wont be any going back and forth and depending on the weather, that may not be a bad thing. We will invite friends over and spend some evenings visiting and playing cards.

So your grandpuppy is coming? :smileyvery-happy:

Jason is done with finals on Dec. 16 but he has to stay over until the 17th as he'll be volunteering in a Chicago clinic that morning. He'll arrive that afternoon and have 2 weeks here. Classes start back up on January 2. We always go to a movie on Christmas Eve afternoon - started that back when the epic LOTR movies were on for 3 years in a row at Christmas time. We go to Christmas Eve services that night and Christmas is usually just a relaxing day although I'm sure this year Jason will be back and forth between our house and his fiance's - at least her family lives in the area! Another tradition we have that we used to do every night during advent but now just do occasionally during that time is reading a Christmas poem out of one of the many old Christmas Ideals I got from my mom. There are a couple dated back to the 1940's and 1950's; most are from the '60's and '70's.

My son will be home on December 13th. That seems really early to me, but I am not complaining, LOL. When I was in school I remember getting home on like the 22nd or 23rd. Didn't much matter to me since I don't celebrate Christmas, but it was really tough on the kids that did and that lived far from school. It was not easy to get home from Ithaca, NY at the end of December. Robin

Ds will arrive on the 16th or 17th depending on whether he has to be in the lab on Fri 12/16. His gf wants to be here for a baby shower mid-afternoon on the 17th and he promised her that she will make it. He goes back north probably on Jan 7 or 8 but possibly before that. Classes don't start until the end of January but he has to be back in the lab earlier.

Dd flies in from NYC on 12/19. She is not bringing my grandcat this year

Good question, that I don't know the answer to! I think the youngest will be done with finals around the 15th. DD22 finishes her short term student teaching on Dec. 13th and I believe she has finals that week. I know they both will be looking forward to a nice break!
