Where does your family fall in this research?

Researchers came to the conclusion after examining the lives of families with different combinations of children, both male and female.

The results show of all the variations, two girls make for the most harmonious family life as they are unlikely to fight, will play nicely and are generally a pleasure to be around.

It also emerged two girls rarely annoy their parents, make limited noise, often confide in their parents and are unlikely to wind each other up or ignore each other.

1.Two girls
2.One boy and one girl
3.Two boys
4.Three girls
5.Three boys
6.Four boys
7.Two girls and one boy
8.Two boys and one girl
9.Three boys and one girl
10.Three girls and one boy
11.Two boys and two girls
12.Four girls
So what is your family happiness dynamic? Agree? Disagree?
Would you change anything if you could?

How about us onlies like ds and me?! No problem with the dynamic til the range of 16-early 18 for ds, which I see way more as a teen thing than a family position thing. I only had trouble with my parents when I was 21!

I can see how two girls would be the best.

I agree on living in the house of MEN felt like living in a frat house at times!

My husband grew up in a 3 girl 1 boy family. I always attributed his sisters influence in making him a better/easier guy to get along /since he had to learn how to cope with women at an early age :smileytongue:

I am a middle child between older brother and younger sis. I wish my mother lived closer to me.

How is your mother

LOL. DH is 3rd of 8 (3 boys, 5 girls) - his worst was late teens, so I guess he passed that on to ds18! I hope we're about over it... I can't imagine 8 kids, where 7 were from '55 to '64 (with 2 losses in there too)...I'd think that'd be tough for any age group in there!

I think it all depends on the personalities involved. Besides, actual family structures are often much more complicated than this chart can represent. For instance my own family consists of a 31 year old stepdaughter, a 17 yo son, and an 11 yo daughter. Since dsd does not live with us and has not for quite some time I guess we fit better in the 1 boy 1 girl category. I am 10 years younger than my sister and 14 years younger than my brother. My brother was awful to me but my sister was great. In my extended family (1st cousin's kids) we have families with 2 girls that fought as children and still have a lot of tension in their relationship even though they are in their mid 40's. Families of two boys that fought as children but are good friends as adults in their 30's. Families of two girls in their 30's who have been great friends their whole lives and families of a boy and girl who were best friends growing up and now in their mid 30's do not speak to one another.

It is just not that simple.

IMP, it depends more on the personalitity and parenting style of the parents, the personality of the children, age differences and
