Wow - seems like a late start. DS19 starts back tomorrow, which is late around here (by a week). He chose to spread core out the 4 years so he could take some of what he wanted to major in, all semesters - in his case I think that was a good plan. (he has a total of 63 hours in core to take)

It's wonderful that he's so positive about returning, but not surprising, since success usually makes you feel a bit better about everything! :)

His major should be anthropology, archeology, history or art history to apply to a top historic preservation program.

Columbia, UPenn and UVA all offer master's degrees in it, but he fell in love with the idea at Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, so he'd rather go to Europe to study and work on REALLY historic stuff.

Well, based on my criterion of "which place would I most like to visit?" I also advocate for study in Europe :). All those majors sound fascinating. It makes me miss being a student.

DD19 is packing her car right now to go back. We're going to swing by the grocery store to stock her up on a few things, grab a bit to eat and then she will hit the road.Classes start tomorrow. She doesn't have the best roommate situation, so she is dreading going back to that, but she loves her school and is really involved with stuff on campus, so she plans on spending as much time this semester away from the dorms as possible. DD22 started the new semester at grad school last week.

Wow, my son has been back at school for a week already. I miss him a little, but I am so excited for him I always feel good watching him go back. His first semester was a little rough, but he did okay. Kept telling him those engineering courses are tough and I think he finally believes me, LOL. The best thing is that he is not at all discouraged and he still loves his major. As I said he did okay, just not as well as he expected. I am a little nervous about this semester, but he likes his classes and recognizes that they will be tough. Keeping my fingers crossed. Robin

Kelly that sounds so exciting. As an engineer I have always been jealous of people that had talent in the arts part of the arts and sciences. I love literature, history, and writing, and I actually did quite well in those subjects in college, but I have zero talent. I really think if I had one wish it would be that I had artistic talent. So jealous, it sounds like your son has a great life planned out. Robin

Oh, his life is as complicated as anyone's. . . he does very well academically but he struggles a bit socially, and he is both bipolar and transgender. . . means it's never a dull moment with him!
