Since we move Thanksgiving to the last Thursday, should we move Halloween?
For many, October 31st is synonymous with Halloween, but one Connecticut lawmaker wants to change all that. ... Connecticut is suggesting Halloween should be moved to the last Saturday of October instead of being specifically on the 31st. ...

What do you think? Would this make it easier for parents and teachers not rushing around on school nights?
Does your community move trick or treating?

I would love it if they moved Halloween; my kids go to bed really early and trick-or-treaters come too late! I am not sure either one will go- ds9 is allergic to corn products so that limits candy extensively (he didn't go last year) and ds11 is just ambivalent. Dd21 is dressing up though, lol, and going to

Not sure what I think -I'm kinda into tradition and that's the day it belongs on.

I don't think they should mess with it. Its that date for a reason: All Hallow's Eve necessarily is the night before All Hallow's Day (All Saint's Day).

The Days of Obligation depends on the country. In Canada, Nov 1st is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. Australia is the same.

True, whether it's a holy day of obligation for Catholics in other countries depends on the country.

And precisely because Oct 31st IS Hallows Eve, and Nov 1st is All Saints Day, with all that entails, some 50++ years ago my Catholic mom strove mightily to NOT deliver until after midnight, so that she might have a little "saint". And she made it, by about an hour. Happy almost b-day, lil sis.
