I don't think you are asking too much and I think talking to the sped teacher is a good idea.
Liam can't pick up on tone so I think sometimes when something gets replayed to me it comes off on stricter then it was implied. If that makes sense. Like we had a homework issue he was sick, because we both work he is in after school. Doing homework there not always an option so we get home at 6pm he is sick I send him to bed, kid didn't even have dinner. To be honest I imagined he would be home sick that next day but he was fine, we were running late I forgot a note. What got replied back to me was she told
why is gen ed teacher doing test this year vs last? Is this something that you can ask for an adjustment be made in IEP for the spec ed teacher too??
We have sort of a similar issue but his teacher is like 2 ways, 2 my face she is IEP pro but then what happens in class I get different story and think the ONLY way I know the truth is if I can become a fly on the wall. which leads me to just count down to the end of this year and hope for a more IEP friendly teacher next year, Course 3rd grade if different this is our first year of letter grades and I keep reminding myself nothing like college or high school if he gets a D in 3rd grade who really cares as long as he passes and I know higher up the go in school it starts counting more.
If you can request a meeting or a review of IEP might be worth a try if at least for a clarification of how she should be handling the dyslexia. Its fustrating I know for us its writing, its a HUGE struggle even something as easy as numbers and we are doing time tables now and it takes him so long to pass and I KNOW he KNOWS his tables but she times the test and he runs out of time and he should get more but its a losing battle and again we have 3 out of 4 teachers who embrace the IEP so hoping we win that lottery again next year!!
