Waiter stands up for special needs child

I love stories like this!!!!  A waiter stood up for a little boy, who has Down Syndrome after some customers asked to be moved away from the table he and his family were sitting at.

I think the waiter was incredibly brave for risking his job to refuse to serve those rude men. How awesome that it has gone the complete other direction for him and the restaurant?

Hooray for the waiter... it's refreshing to see someone take a stance against that type of ignorance without thought to the consequences! Many people would have just ignored it but apathy to bad behavior often makes the culprit feel justified, like he's speaking for everyone. It's about time people stood up to those types of bullies.

This was floating around FB this weekend and I couldn't stand the negative comments how he should be fired, how dare he, if that was MY business. Now granted the family didn't hear the comment but according to what I read they were loyal customers. Really. He didn't tell them to leave just that HE wouldn't serve them. Someone else could have THEY left. Think I read they were regulars too but if he had refused to serve them for making a racial comment how many of these people would be saying fire him. Oh and then the assumption that the boy was misbehaving. Now I do think there is a time and place for kids but sounds like this was a family place and really you have to expect some disruption but if you know ANYTHING about downs kids they are NOT disruptive. Tend to be friendly which may have made these people uncomfortable but sorry if this was my resturant I stand behind the waiter which is sounds like this place did and clearly anyone with half a brain would realize had it gone the other way and the resturant fired the waiter they would loss more customers then gain...

sorry the negative comments about this were just boiling my blood this weekend...

Great story, I saw it on FAcebook also.  I didn't see any negative comments--but I don't usually read the comments on something like that (anything shared a lot), usually there are hundreds!  The waiter was right, he did the perfect thing and if I was a business owner, I would stand behind that employee.
