That's ridiculous!

yes this is the gen ed. teacher. She says 'I've taught children with dyslexia before' Ok that's great and honestly I am happy about that but you have never taught my child before. They are all individuals and I am just trying to make sure he is doing what he should do. I'm trying to help them both.

I can relate!! I haven't been told I email too much, but from the responses I receive I get the sense that they are annoyed.

the principal is little to no help at all. I did save the email though. I actually got fed up and called the teacher on Thursday b/c Nathaniel came home telling me he was geting counted off for spelling on the daily fix it. He is not supposed to be counted off for spelling on anything but spelling work, it is in his IEP. So I called and talked w/ her for a long time. We made a little progress I think but I am cautious to be thrilled b/c I have been burned so many times before.

I get those kinds of replies too, the ones where they don't come right out and say it but you can tell what they are thinking.

I'm glad you called -- just remember to keep a log of each contact. If you have things that come up you need to discuss at a future IEP meeting, you'll be able to refer to actual dates and your notes regarding the emails and incidents, especially if you ever need to go to arbitration over something.

I'd be mad too. There are so many parents who are not involved, you'd think that they would welcome your inquiries. I fear that I am going to be labeled "that parent". I called the spec ed teacher yesterday, and I still haven't had a call back.

If you haven't heard back by Monday afternoon I would call again, if that yields nothing head on down to the school to visit with her. ;)

Oh, I remember "being" that parent at least at 2 schools in one year and on the superintendent's "hot" list. I'd definitely give a call back on Monday - if you haven't had a call back by lunch time.
