AP Bio question

My son took AP Bio this past fall. Last night we were talking about that class and he told me that the teacher spent a couple of days teaching about the "holes" in evolution theory and about creationism. The teacher told the kids he was forced to do so by the school district. I was shocked because it sounds like such a waste of time. It belongs in a different class not AP Bio. I can't imagine they would teach that in college. So the question is do you know if your schools teach creationism in AP Bio?

Thanks for your input. I think I am going to talk to my son about this and find out exactly what he was taught. I was going to say what he learned, but I stopped myself because he thought it was a load of bunk. Even our Rabbi has taught him that the world is definitely not 6000 years old. Maybe my son is misrepresenting what the teacher actually taught and I think I better straighten that out before I give him a call. I know that there are a few kids in his classes that do not believe in evolution and maybe the discussion was lead by them. I better check with my son again. In any case I agree 100% that his education was not what I would have hoped for, but I would disagree that it "disabled his critical thinking skills.". On the contrary it made him think more critically about everything he was being taught. Although I am not happy about what he was taught I am glad that he recognized it was bunk.

No, not here but it may be a State, not local, requirement.

Wow, and this is public school
in a disctrict that is not
extremely conservative. In fact our district went for Obama in 2008. I can't
really complain though because I have
only been to a few school boardmeetings. I guess I better start attending.
