Thanks for the congrats!

That is the next thing she is talking to her college counselor about. I told her last night she needs to be sure she can get enough in loans/grants/scholarships to cover before she accepts. One good thing is the colleges she's applying to have a high rate (over 80%) of finding the kids jobs when they graduate and finding them internships while they are attending. She is looking at International Business/Fashion Design as her major so I'm glad she'll be taking some of the more business oriented classes as well as the fashion and that she realizes it's a hard industry to break into.

I am still paying off my student loans; went back to school when Felicia was 4 and graduated when she was 12... still owe over $40k... UGH! But I can't imagine if I'd went to a school that was $40k/yr.

Forgive me if I've already asked this, but has Connor looked into other scholarships? There are lots of small ones out there that he could string together into a sizeable amount. Check out your church--some denominations offer scholarships to deserving students; there are also literally thousands of interest groups and clubs that give money for kids to go to college. Some of these aren't that hard to get because people don't know they're out there and they have few applicants.

It is tough when they have their hearts set on something that is narrowly defined and there are only a few schools for it.

Awesome for Conner... I think just being accepted makes it worth the time they took to apply and all that goes with that.

I wish I could get Felicia to consider community college for the first couple years, but she is dead set on attending college in NY no matter how much it takes in loans.
