First Acceptance Letter Arrived
| Tue, 10-23-2012 - 10:09am |
ODD received her acceptance letter to her top choice school yesterday! She submitted it for early decision last Sunday evening, so we were suprised it came so quickly. We are going to the college this weekend for a recruiting visit for the athletic team she is interested in, which makes things that much more real now. She hasn't submitted any other applications yet, but does plan on applying to at least 3 other colleges, but was not in quite as much of a hurry with those ones. She will submit the other ones most likely next month sometime. Now, if financial aid and scholarships shape up...

That doesn't sound horrible at all; it sounds very sensible to me. I think it's always a balance between "follow your dreams" and "be practical." The kids I know who are looking at going into nursing, for example, are looking for the lowest cost schools, not the most prestigious, because in our area, nurses are in high demand and anyone with a degree from any accredited nursing school is going to have a job when they finish.
Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
Wow! Congratulations!
Many schools do rolling admissions, so getting your application in early, as your DD did, is wise.
None of DD's schools do rolling admissions, except for the state school at the bottom of her list. She applied ED to her top choice; she submitted the application on a Friday night and got a call on Thursday for an interview. Since you have to be asked to interview, this is a positive sign that they're taking her application seriously! It probably also helped that she got it in well before the ED deadline of Nov 1.
All the other schools have a January deadline and don't send acceptances until April.
Congratulations! That's fabulous news! Financial realities are important and she will thank you later when she doesn't have an enormous mound of debt in front of her. I hope she gets the scholarship to this school. The very fast turnaround on her application tells me they are very interested in her so signs are good.
Congratulations! That must be a relief to head into the holiday season knowing she has a college lined up!
Why is she applying to other schools, though? I thought ED was binding. Or was it early evaluation?
