Colorado School of Mines. We all loved it. My son felt like he really fit in. He absolutely loved Lehigh, but at $50K+ a year we discouraged it. Mines was a cheaper alternative to Lehigh and when I asked ds which he liked better he didn't even hesitate - he loved Mines. So now it is decision time. He loved it, but it is far away. I guess that is the only drawback at this point.

Wow, that is really interesting because my husband and son went to Lehigh about a year ago and they stressed to the whole group that they should expect to pay $50k per year. They said that they gave no aid. Interesting. I was not there and I am depending on my husband and son for that info. In any case, ds did not apply to Lehigh because it was too rich for our blood. He applied to three engineering schools and got into all three. The other two are big schools so it is between them and the very small Mines. Well no harm done because as it turns out Mines is a much better match than Lehigh plus they did give him a very nice merit scholarship.

If your son is happy with Mines, then that's great - as you say, no harm done, and it's wonderful that he's found his place!
