Updates on Senior HS kids

I know we have a few on the boards that have seniors.  How are they doing, are they starting the senioritis already or still working pretty hard?  Any acceptances or decisions made on colleges yet?

DD really enjoyed her classes first semester and excited for her next semester classes. We're not seeing any signs of senioritis.

Applying to colleges has been stressful but it's done! She was deferred at her ED school which frankly, I'm a bit relieved about. She was bummed initially but more because she just wanted the whole thing to be a done. The nice part of the deferral is that it's made her more open to other schools. She was accepted into 3 universities early... a local public honors program and two private LAC's with hefty merit scholarship offers. One was low on the list initially but they've been very attentive (calls from the department head, personlized acceptance letter talking about what they liked in her application, invitation to dinner at a local aluma's home to talk college, ect.) and it's rising in the ranks. Of course, there are 9 schools left to hear back from but with viable offers on the table, March doesn't seem too far away.

She gets a 4.5 week winter break and she's planning on having some fun as well as working on scholarship stuff. Her college friends are home and she's already off reconnecting and hearing roomate horror stories lol.

All-in-all.... senior year is going well!

Gregory  has been accepted at Hope College (Michigan), Western Michigan University, and University of Michigan.  He got a "not yet" from his early decision University of Chicago application.  They will keep him in consideration and want him to send his seventh semester transcript and invited him to submit further supporting documentation that might help them decide.  He was bummed, because U of C is his first-choice school, but I pointed out that they didn't say "no," they said "not yet--we're still thinking about you."     He won't make any decisions until he gets a final answer from U of C and financial aid offers from all of his schools.

He had a snow day our last day before winter break, and after he went back to bed after receiving the news at 6:15 a.m., he slept in until about 11:30 a.m.  He was about as tired as a boy can be. I don't see senioritis having a chance to set in at all--he's taking 3 AP classes that are only going to get more intense after the holidays.   Greg's never been one to slack any way--I'm not sure that senioritis is even in his vocabulary.

So far DS has been accepted to 3 state universities. We are waiting to hear on 4 more, 3 of which are privates that are out of our price range. But who knows. He is on break until January 13th. one of his acceptances is his 2nd chpice school.

Finals are over and senioritis has hit somewhat, we just keep reminding him he needs to finish  strong.
