How are all the new middle schoolers adjusting?

For those new to middle school, how is the adjustment going? Is there a marked increase in homework, learning to juggle deadlines, etc. or still pretty easy going?

They prefer it that way, they've only been in the same classroom twice before, kindy and than 5th grade (which was not their choice). Although they are good friends at home, they are so different that they do better apart where they don't compare themselves with the other.

Sounds like a good start to the year Melissa! Is this the first time they've been separated into different classes? If so, how are they feeling about that?

It's been pretty good overall. They are getting adjusted to having to keep organized and remember what's going on. Matthew is having a harder time with it, although socially I think he's having a blast (although maybe that's why he's having a hard time!). I got an email from his science teacher saying that he's losing focus in class, so we had a pretty serious talk about it. I was impressed that the teacher was already concerned and addressed it right away with us. I'd rather know it now while we can nip it in the bud. It helps me a lot that although they are in only one class together, they share all the same core teachers.
