Either you are just receiving report cards for those who had mid-terms before the holiday break or are taking exams here shortly.  Its about the middle of the year now, how are the kiddos doing??  Any surprises, happy moments, any struggles?

Our second quarter doesn't end for another two weeks.  DS's interim report was straight Cs - very disappointing.  He is since up to a B in Social Studies but apparently a D in English.  I am at my wit's end with both him & DH, who is supposed to be staying on top of this (he's the SAH parent).  If DH doesn't check his work every single day, it doesn't get done or handed in.  Period.

We are taking him to his neurologist on Tuesday to start ADD meds.  I pray they help.  I am so tired of hearing "he's such a smart kid," "he's such a bright boy, it's a shame he doesn't do his work," from his teachers.  His siblings are a genius and a superachiever, and this is sooooo frustrating for all of us.

Their final semester grades aren't as good as mid-term, they both messed up a little towards Christmas. I've been getting on them about their grades, and expect to see better ones at the end of the year. Connor took our conversations to heart and really got his act together. Matthew is still struggling, but I think some time away from the computer will put him in the right frame of mind when it comes to the importance of school work ;)
