Summer Plans

Its getting to be close to the end of the school year, 4-7 weeks depending on what area of the country you are in.  Have you already begun plans for the kids/family for the summer?  Will the kids be doing any camps, do they relax and just enjoy the down time, etc.  For those in middle school, if they aren't doing camps and you work during the summer, what do they do while you are at work?

School finishes here on June 21.  We go on vacation on Aug 9.  Between the end of school & the start of family vacation, DS will go to a couple of weeks of tennis camp at our gym (where he takes tennis lessons now) and a week of tech camp in game design.  The rest of his summer will be "Camp Dad."  DH is planning to teach him more about cooking, go on bike rides together, play tennis, take the dogs for walks, and do projects in the yard.  After an overly hectic school year, DS is looking forward to a more relaxing, slower paced summer.

18yo DD will be a counselor at a day camp.  20yo DS will be spending part of his summer doing research for a professor at his college and part of it in Peru.

My 12-year-old has 11 weeks off for summer. Tae kwon do continues all summer but adds a weapons class that he always likes. Piano goes through July. He's doing a 2 week theatre camp and a 1 week Robotics camp. He hasn't decided whether to play summer league basketball or take the skills class but it'll be one or the other. Probably skills because it won't conflict so much with the summer show he's working on at his youth theatre (opens end of June so most of the "activity" is actually while he's still in school.) I know he'll want to spend a lot of time with his buddies and probably lots of time with minecraft too.
