Best convertible for tall baby?

Hi.  My son will be 6 months old on the 21st, he was 16.6 pounds and 28 inches long (off the charts for his age), the end of July, so I can only assume, he might have reached at least 28 1/2 inches by now and at least 17 pounds.  We have a Graco Snugride right now and the max is 25 pounds and I believe 29 or 30 inches.  What convertible would you recommend for a baby who is tall already?  I want to be able to get the most use out of the seat but he is already tall.  I was looking at the Britax Roundabout?  But not sure which one might be good.  Thanks!

The two tallest convertibles I know of are the Sunshine Kids Radian (any model, they all have the same shell height) and the First Years True Fit. They are very very close in height, but the Radians have a 40lbs RFing limit, and the True Fit has a 35lbs limit. The TF will FF to 65lbs, and depending on the model, Radians go to 65 or 80. Either of these seats will keep your LO Rfing to a good age of 2 or 3, maybe even 4 if your lucky (I've got my fingers crossed that my LO will make it too 3 or 4 in his TF). And you'll be able to be harnessed until 5 or 6. If you want to know why RFing and extended harnessing are so important you can visit http://www.joelsjourney.org/ and http://www.kyledavidmiller.org/

If I remember correctly, the Roundabout is shorter than either of these two seats. HTH some

The Roundabout may last you a year or two. It's a really short seat and is outgrown by average sized children by 3 years old.

I agree that the Radian and the True Fit would be my top recommendations. I'd also suggest the Complete Air and the Triumph 65. These seats also have 40lb rf limits and they have tall shells. The Complete Air only has a 50lb ff limit, so it would work better for a child who tracks tall, but lighter in weight.
