Hello All!

My daughter is almost 5 and is currently in a marathon and a marthon 70.  I think it is time to move into a booster at least outo f the regular marathon.  She definately fit weight wise in both seats but is looking a little tall especially for the regualr marathon.

We haev 2 honda civics.  My daughter wil be 5 in november she is tall and thin...not sure of her mesaurments - ill have to measure her tonight.

The two seats I am debating are the britax frontier and britax sgl.

I like the harness on the frontier - can you tell me to what height weight she can harness? The only think I don't like is the price tag - as i need 2 seats. and a third for my mothers car - I may go for a graco frontier for my mothers as she drive her as much.

Can you ladies give me some honest feedback ont he two seats.

Also side bar question - what is teh lacth weight limit in a civic?  i can't find in my manual and civic says there is no limit - but i dont belive them.

Thank you!

The Frontier 85 has 20" top slots to the Nautilus' 18.5" top slots.  Also from what I can find Honda only has a 40lb latch limit. Remember latch is not safer its supposed to make it more user friendly. A tight fit is most important with less then one inch of movement at the belt path.

Honestly both seats are good seats. You have to go with what fits your child your car and your budget. If she fits in the Graco seat get that one as if she is really light under 40lbs then the Frontier would be a bit much as you don't need the weight limit. Dawn

I have a few questions for you. Do you currently have 3 car seats? Is your daughter outgrowing the regular Marathon? Also how much does she weigh? I know some booster seats say 3 years and 30lbs but ideally car seat techs like to see kids at least 40lbs and 5 years being the minimum age to start booster training. Honestly I would not buy 3 seats at once unless she is out growing the seats our the seats are about to expire. A forward facing car seat is outgrown one of 3 ways. The shoulders are over the top slot or the weight limit is reached or the ears go over the top of the seats.

Is there a car she rarely rides in like a couple times a month? If so I would by a booster like the Britax Parkway SGL in Nov when she turns 5.  Also I would try her out in a seat like the Graco Nautilus and see how she fits. The crouch strap can be a bit snug from some but not bother others. The Graco seat has a 5pt harness up to 65 lbs the a high back booster up to 100 lbs and a no back booster up to 100 lbs. So the seat would last a long time.

The Britax Frontier is a very tall seat and last a long time as a 5pt harness seat and makes a very tall booster seat but the back does not come off to make it a no back booster seat. The harness on this seat goes to 85 lbs and the booster seat goes all the way up to 120lbs so this seat would last a long time too. Dawn
