Evenflo Triumph

We have an Evenflo Triumph that was manufactured in December 2007.(Evenflo replaced another one that broke) My son (2 years, 29 lbs/36 inches) was in a decathlon, but we moved it to my husband's car since he'll be going to preschool with hubby everyday. Technically my car will be his secondary ride and he'll only be in it on the weekends.

This Evenflo has been in storage since the spring of 2008. We pulled it out of storage last week and I "installed" it in my car on Saturday. I use the quotes because I know there is something wrong. This is the regular Trimuph- not the advance. Although it the one that has the cover with velcro to make it easier to take on and off and the straps that adjusted from the front, supposedly no re threading necessary.

The problem as I see it is that the straps don't stay in place. I have them at the slot just above my son's shoulders. The thing that is supposed to keep the straps in place is this thin piece of plastic. I can in no way see keeping the strap in place in the event of hard breaking, let alone an accident. It has already slipped out of the track.

I can't find the manual, which is strange for me because I always keep my manuals in the designated place in the seats- we've had several over the years. I've looked online and found something on another board that indicates you can only use the top slot in the forward facing position, no other slot will do? In that case, why have the other slots?

I'm confused about the seat you are talking about. I have an old Evenflo Triumph and the harness has to be rethreaded.

I can answer the questions about the slots though - the other slots should be in the rear-facing position.

I think you might need to contact Evenflo about your seat.

So even though there are four different slots for the shoulder harness, I can only use the top slot for forward facing? That slot is about 7 or 8 inches about his shoulders. Why so high?

I’m can’t really answer your questions, but if you enter your model number and date of manufacture at this website https://plweb.evenflo.com/replacement_parts.aspx, they will give you a manual for free. That may answer your question.
