My son will be 7 next week and is currently in a Britax Regent which we have loved.

Does he ride in any other cars? With a backless booster you have to make sure you have an adjustable head rest. You could buy the no back booster if your other car does have adjustable head rest. That way you can start booster seat training.

My stepdaughter totally outgrew any booster by 8. At 10, she's 5'2" at the doctor today. Her dad is 6'7", two aunts I knew around this age were similar in height, one is 5'11" and one is 6'1".

Also, we don't try to get them out early, both our 5 & 3 year olds are rear facing. 5 yo is built like me, she will be short to average height until 16, she'll likely be in a booster the longest. She'll flip on weight. 3 yo is like hubby's family, she'll flip forward on height.

My vote is use the Regent until you can't, then you will likely just need a backless booster, if anything.
