Calling all participants in the March Grocery Challenge --- have you been sticking to your list???

I've stuck to my list so far. It sure helps that I'm still trying to plan things from what's on hand. When I do go to the store, it's for just a few things and I have a short list. There have been a few times when I almost picked something up, but then thought -- "NO! Not on the list and we do not need it!" And I've been able to walk away. I've also carried this through to my non-grocery shopping like Walgreens and Target.

I just forget to write the list and go to the store without and still only pick up the needed items were

A few times I needed to replace the item with something else since the item was unsafe for my girls (food allergies are so hard to deal with sometimes)

Its been going really well for me, this month/this challenge. For me, I think the previous two months challenges make this one successful for me.

And, I know this is off-topic, but I find my success in challenges make me feel good! And, it spreads to other areas of my life, I'm more confident in some other challenges too, like exercise commitment, and how to plump up my car savings account.

So far, so good-mostly! I've had one grocery store trip, plus a bread store trip and a CVS trip (for some food items). The only time I bought something I hadn't planned was at the bread store; I picked up a loaf of cinnamon bread--very tasty for breakfast ;) I will be going to the grocery store on Thursday, and I plan to make a good list/buy no "extras."

I've been doing really well. There has been only a couple of items I bought that weren't on the list - one I remember is some wheat germ that I had been looking for a lower price on, and when I found it I figured i should buy it before I forgot. I'm also being very good about writing lists while I go through the grocery ads, because I don't want to miss any good deals because of the items not being on my list!

I only have about $150 left in groceries for the month so I'm really going to have to be careful with my lists for the next couple of weeks. I do have a lot of stuff in my pantry though.

I've bought the same off-list item 3 weeks in a row LOL. Rice pilaf. We eat it a lot - dont know why I cant remember to put it on the list. Probably b/c I dont really meal plan - need to get on that :)

Unfortunately, I did go to Target today without a list. Disaster. I bought 2 videos for the kids - definitely not a need item. But fortunately, my little one wont remember tomorrow so I'll put them away for our Easter trip to the Grand Canyon (8 hours in a car with 2 toddlers - fun! We'll need the videos...)

Okay so I have been really bad at this challenge. 2 out of 3 times were bad. Okay first experience:

Here is the second trip this month: I did some switching around b/c it was cost effective for me to. Here is what I switched out: On list pear3$ , gr. beans 1.99$, broc and cheese soup mix 4$ Here is what switched: oranges 4$, 2 Ragu Sauce 3$. So I just did that b/c I really don't like pears and that soup mix was over priced. Then I also bought beer and that is 14 $ towards debt. (and we had beer in the frig).

Now the second time I didn't even take a list for the trip. I did circle the ones that were an want and not really a need. Those were doritos (had enough for trip at home), quaker rice cakes (had snacks at home), grapples. I so should not have paid 3 for grapples. So all and all it was 9$.

Total for this month with not sticking to a list: 25.00.
