CL-Leslie and Everyone Else...

I'm just wondering what you all think - this category is supposed to be for greetings and introductions, but honestly most people seem to be using it for threads that they want everyone to see right away and to not get lost or that don't technically fall into one of the other categories...so...maybe we can create a different category to occupy this first slot (maybe something along the lines of Frugal Chit Chat) and move G&I to the second place??

Feedback?

Also, Leslie, can this even be done?

I agree-because it's the first thing to come up I like to post there too-for stuff that may be a little smidge off topic (greetings and intros). Frankly though, it just really doesn't bother me to see any slightly off topic conversations there. ;)

Yes, sure that can be done. Although I don't really mind the chit-chat in this folder either. It's really up to you guys.

It's just a matter of me requesting the change to get it done. The only thing we wouldn't want to do is to delete a folder and add a new one because then you lose the placement of the messages (i.e. the messages would still exist if you did a search, but wouldn't actually show up in a folder... at least that's how I think it works.)

well if its such a big deal to people that we post off subject then just move chit chat to the top of the page. I agree with the others that it is NOT a big deal and when you post at the bottom it does tend to get lost.

Okay, first - it's not a big deal, but honestly why even bother with folders at all then...I thought the purpose was to create order?

It was just a random thought, I figured I'd share, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other...but clearly it doesn't matter overall, so never mind - carry on.

LOL, Mil, I'm with you. It really isn't a big deal, not like anyone's losing sleep over it or anything. I think some of us just feel compelled to fit things into their organized little niches.

Not a huge thing, but I noticed it too.

Well, I'll go out on a limb here and say I find it annoying when people just post in the top section, rather than looking for the appropriate place for their post. It's like they're saying that their post is so much more important than everybody else's that the rules don't apply to them. I also wonder about their reading skills, since the board is clearly marked (at least in the view I use).

I just feel that way about posts that clearly aren't intros or greetings (and I do think that having a baby, something like that, does count as a greeting).

With this board set-up things shouldn't get lost at all. At least not when they're new. Just scroll to read the catagories that interest you. Maybe scrolling is more complicated that I thought? There're some days I don't even check certain topics because they don't interest me at all and if a post that should've gone in one of those catgories appears in one of the sections I do read? I just ignore it anyway.

Granted I'll agree that the Intro & Greet catagory may not be the best one to have at the top of the board, but I'm inclined to think that if we had a catagory entitled "Frugal Chit Chat" that everybody would post everything there, making the other catagories useless. Which would, imo, make the board more of a pain to read than it is now.

I dunno, maybe we should have a "need help pronto" section, LOL.

LOL I totally agree that we should have a need help Pronto! folder!

I think that should go at the top as well!

Well let's keep an eye on things and see how it goes. Would that be ok with everyone? The reason that the folders are a necessity is because you can only see a certain number of posts at a time. If we all just post in the top folder, then things *will* get lost. But it doesn't seem to be a big problem right now.

I think most people do
