I've never heard that.... but I'd give the products a try...keep buying what works for you, and if a particular thing doesn't work, you really haven't wasted much, right?

that's how I do generic/store brand products as well...try everything...keep buying what we like, the few we didn't we don't buy again and stick with the brand name

Welcome to the board!

I've never heard that about dollar stores & name brand products, so I can't help you there.

I love Dollar Tree and never had a problem with any of their products. I actully had never heard of that before. Dollar tree has so much selection and I love them because they are really clean and organized unlike other Dollar Stores in the area.

I buy my hair care, tolietries, household products and food products from them on an occassional basis.

I love dollar tree! I buy...

Bleach

Paper products

Candy

Holiday Decorations

Plastic ware, buckets, totes, baskets

Their Generic Tylenol PM & Advil

Kleenex

Hand Sanitizer

Hair ties, scrunchies, brushes & combs

The only thing I ever had a problem with was their Pepto Bismol - seperated and looked all yucky when I got it home. I had bought it before no problem.

I don't think food is that great of a deal... I don't object to it, I just don't find anything I need.

I am answering this before reading everyone's replies. I am sorry if this is repeat info. Dollar Tree and Big Lots are liquidation stores, so their stock constantly rotates. They buy items from other stores that have either gone under/liquidated or the item is moving to slow at a regular retail.

I love my Big Lots. I can get tons of Annie's products, General Mills, etc for almost half the price at our major grocer (Kroger).

Dollar Tree typically has smaller quantity packages of the name brand direct from the manufacturer or liquidated products. Also a lot of their food products are from smaller American producers or else a lot of Canadian producers. I have yet to find anything that I have been unhappy with.

The best advice I have for you is to go on a regular basis and be flexible on products since their stock is always changing.

Yes, the toothpaste said Colgate, but the fine print stated it was made in Africa, I believe.
