I, too, am done for the month. I never really had a budget so I was just going with the challenge - which I totally flopped on. Jan's total was $207.26; Feb's total was $279.98. I know it's because I had just gone shopping at the end of December and stocked up on items for January and that February's total is more reflective of what we usually spent.

Here's to hoping I do better with March's challenge . . .

well, I will be $8 over for February ... bought some clearance valentine candy (about $15 worth), $25 cat litter stock up (which I found out could have waited, and even then could have bought less) and those seem to have thrown off my calculations.

I bought OJ, lemon juice, baby carrots and bananas, thats what put me in the red (deliberately, because these seem like things to not skimp on), I MAY deduct them from March monthly amount.

I'm not quite done for the month. I did a big shop today, and spent $109.77. That puts us at $427.43 for the month and my goal was to not exceed $500. I will probably need to go for milk and maybe produce and/or bread by Thursday or Friday, and that will finish us up for the month.

I spent $476.53 in January so my goal will be to spend $400 or less.

Well I spent $377.50 so I met my goal.

I flopped for the month. I wanted to spend less than $350 and ended up spending almost $450. I did some stocking up, so that took up a big portion almost $300. I do a stock-up around every 3 months, and I need to really do one because we were getting low on some items. Then I spent almost $150 on fresh fruit and veggies, plus milk, eggs, and bread weekly.

I'm ready for March's Challenge : )

I'm done, and I guess I didn't do too badly... This month I spent a total of $495 on grocery, plus about $45 in WIC coupons, and about $59 in "misc."

Jan., I had spent only $430 in grocery, but $248 in "misc." Since I haven't been able to drive down to one of the larger cities (or out of time), I've had to do all the shopping at the grocery store, so not the most frugal there. My last trip, I spent about $167, and was like - eeeek! DH bought a new book - $8, I bought a 12-pack of paper towels, a 30 lb. tub of cat litter, 24-case of cat food, and batteries. Also bought a TON of meat - 2 big packs of day-old chicken leg/thighs, day-old steaks, and ground beef. And also tons of fruits and veggies. And I had a coupon for a free 2-liter of soda, a free bottle of Suave shampoo, and about 6 other coupons.

We spent about $41 eating out - $1 less than last month - LOL. I was DH's fault. We ate at In-N-Out burger once at $14, then bought a take-n-bake pizza at this one place that was reccomended - about $12 (and not very good), and spent $8 at Jack-in-the-Box when they had free taco coupons. I'm NOT very impressed with their food - yuch. I should have just gone to Taco Bell.

I'm so surprised by how difficult it is to save money! I know I have to not be afraid to buy things when they're at a really good price, so that I don't risk running out of things. It's so tough with this stupid weather too. When there's 12" of snow on the ground, our 3 cat's don't go outside, so they're eating more when they can't mouse, and I'm scooping the litter box twice a day vs. twice a week. I did print out a shopping list for Safeway for this week - they have a bunch of coupons for free stuff, and also are offering $10 off if you spend $50. Hopefully, after my DH's hernia operation, we get disability pay, and after we finish remodeling our DD's bathroom, I'll get back to my old shopping schedule.

Holy Cow! I did almost $200 better than last month. I'm in shock - and still thinking I must have added something wrong, but I've triple checked it. Whoo-hoo.

In Feb I spent $470.82, versus $661 in Jan. I did have $40 worth of store coupons, so really it would be $510, but still pretty good (my store has been remodeling, so the sent out 4 Qs for $10 off each, trying to keep people in the store while they're working on it - heck, I'll shop in a wreck if you give me $40!)

BTW it looks like DD doesnt have celiac, so my budget is intact :) We go to see a GI next month, and hopefully it is not something more serious...
