Don't think the economy has gotten that much better.

I think that people need to realize that things likely aren't (and shouldn't) go back to the way they were.

I have to agree! And it's not just the consumer side, with all the deregulation of banks and other financial institutions they were just allowed to play fast and loose with people's money. The Financial Reform Act will be a good first step but it won't be enough. Risk-taking is great when the things are going well, but when things go south then it is time to evaluate whether it is the right thing to do.

The government will also have to come to terms with the deficit, but that is extremely difficult when people are needing so much help with unemployment, and now the BP oil spill is adding to the burden.

I don't think the economy has recovered much at all. I just saw on our local news tonight that Florida will no longer have health inspectors check the food areas at daycares, hospitals, or nursing homes--the very people who might have weakened immune systems and need this extra oversight. Restaurants will still be inspected, though. Sure, we've heard talk of shortened school weeks, programs like art and P.E being cut, some parks shortening hours, etc....but no more health inspections?? That just surprised me.

Here's an article about it:
