Follow up to my pre-cooked ground beef..

Well my friend emailed me a link about safe handeling of meats and ground beef in particular. IT did say that YOU CAN'T FREEZE PARTIALLY COOKED GROUND BEEF AND expect subsequent cooking of it to kill off bacteria. It said when it was partially cooked....the bacteria would rapidly multiply. SO when I read that.....I chunked all 8 containers of my 2 cup portions of cooked (well partially cooked) meat out. I WAS SICKENED BY IT....but I thought instead of risking making my family sick especially my 3 kids...it was not worth risking. SO next time I will cook fewer pounds in one pot and make sure it is thoroughly cooked. I bought this 96% lean meat at the commissary so it was about 20 bucks worth of meat....had I bought it out in town it would have been more like 30 probably. So lesson learned. Thanks to all who responded to my ASAP POST.

Hi Denise.

Just wanted to thank you for posting this. I, too, would have assumed that the meat would be OK to eat as long as it was cooked *thoroughly* after freezing. You are right, it is not worth risking the health of your family. You did the right thing by tossing it...

Take care, emi
