Grace was born 7/22 at 12:21 pm ( water broke at 8:15 by the doctor) she was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 19.5 inches. When the ped did her check up oday she's a little jaundice ( can't even tell) and he had a murmur. He asked a pediatric cardiologist to come in due to her heart issues during pregnancy, he found she has ASD ( Atrial Septum Defect) there are 3 small holes in the wall between the upper chambers of her heart. The back flow of blood in her case is minimal. And most cases heal on their own. She has to see the pediatric cardiologist in 6 months for another check up.

oh Chelle, I came online to see if you had posted an update. Glad that little Grace is here! Post some pics when you get a chance. Praying for her little heart to heal on its own. How are you doing? Alex ok?

Will pray that Grace will be ok. She gets through these set backs in her health.

it all sounds scary, but I'm sure it will be ok. Those defects normally do heal themselves. The fetal heart is slightly different than the infant heart because their circulation pattern is different with different needs. Did anyone explain that to you? In the fetal heart, blood doesn't get oxygen from the lungs but rather gets all it's needs from the mom's blood thru the placenta. With most babies, the moment they are born, the "holes" in the heart close immediately, and they begin the circulation they will have for life, where the blood has to be pumped to the lungs for oxygen. In some babies, such as Grace, those "holes" don't close up right away and for whatever reason, take a little more time.

Sounds like you are taking it all in stride, though!

Congratulations on your new little bundle. I can't wait to see pictures!

Alex is doing ok. He's in love with her already. He will
Play with her here and there but until she plays back he won't have much interest lol
I'm doing ok. Now that I've had time to process everything and research, talk to the ped etc. Even though she has 3 holes theyare very small and should correct themselves with time. It's the most common heart defect in infants from what I've read.

Congratulations! I just wanted to mention that my third dd was born with the same defect. She had many visits to the ped cardiologist during her first year but by a year it was almost 100% closed and will suffer no noticeable affects whatsoever. Hoping you will have the same outcome.
