My total on groceries only for 2009 was $3813.17 for an average of $317.76 per month. This for a family of 5 for most of the year; 18yo ds went away to college in mid-Aug. and only was home for a few weekends plus his winter break now.

This is down from last year. My total in 2008 was $4285.39 for an average of $357.12 per month. I was surprised to see a decrease. I figured I was about on track to do close to what was spent last year.

I also tracked a few other categories for all of 2009 just for curiousity's sake. I'll post those in another thread.

I spent a total of $3716.74, average of 309.73 per month on grocery (food) only. That doesn't include eating out or household supplies. I wouldn't say it's good, but it was my first year tracking and gives me a goal for 2010.

My total was $7340 which includes groceries, diapers, wipes, cleaning supplies and cat food for a family of 5 and a cat. I budget $550 a month but i am averaging about $610. I am going to try and stick the $550 a month this year.

I spent around $8000. It does include some cleaning supplies and most of the pet food, but not all.

I'm not unhappy with the figure, but it is a shocker to think of it in those terms. I try to stay at $150 per week, except for entertaining, which is always more.

We are at about $3200 for the year or just over $260 per month. It is a little high for us, but we have cut out a lot of out to eat meals and the groceries increase reflect that.

We have a family of 5 at home, including 3 teenagers. My oldest son (and daughter in law) live in their own apartment, but don't make much in income, so I get groceries for them also as often as I can.

My second oldest starts college this fall, which should help a little on the grocery budget.

$6099. That's for a family of 4 and includes household supplies, pet food, my makeup and stuff like toothpaste and shampoo.

I never included cat food and cat litter on my food bill. Maybe I should of.
