Are you Heidi from Chelsea, MI? How are the property prices out there? I would really like to move back to the Ann Arbor area and love Chelsea. We live outside Boston and a 3/5 acre lot with a split ranch 7/3/1 runs about $275,000. Is that similar to prices out there? Lower? Higher?

How are the schools in Chelsea? What's Manchester like?

Thanks,

Joyce

Hi, Joyce. Yes, I'm Heidi from Chelsea. We have lived here for 9 years and love it. Dexter is nice too. I can't say about the housing prices in Chelsea but my husband sure can. He is a realtor w/Keller-Williams. I will ask him. Are you looking to move soon?

The schools are great in Chelsea! I've heard Manchester schools are good too but way to small for my liking. How old are your kids? Our twin boys are 7 and in second grade.

We are looking to move in a year or two, not exactly soon unfortunately. I have a 5 year old boy. Our biggest concern is the job market. DH is a hardware engineer and I know the auto industry isn't doing very well so we're not sure where he could get work.

Do you know the Rayes? Greg and Helen own the feed store in town. They've got three kids and their daughter Olivia may be seven.

I'll be driving out from MA, this summer. Time for my annual trip to Treasure Mart and other A2 oldies. There was this fabulous restaurant in Chelsea that we enjoyed but I can't remember the name of it.

It's nice to hear from someone "back home".

What a small world this is! Yes, I know the Rayes. My DH buys his homebrew suppies from the feed store. And I remember Olivia from when I helped with kindergarten Safety Town (k-garten round up). They don't know us but might recognize us as fellow Chelseaites. Our boys and Olivia will be in the same school next year due to a reorganization of the grades so I'll probably get to know them better next school year.

I love Treasure Mart too. The restaurant you are thinking of is probably The Common Grill. We like it too.

When you are in the area this summer, maybe we can meet.

Joyce—I have a reply from my husband re: housing in the Chelsea/Manchester area. Do you want me to post it here or send it to your personal e-mail?

Heidi,

It is a small world! Here's my email: seabold1@attbi.com

The Common Grill was the restaurant. We enjoyed it a lot. Chelsea seems like a nice town. I used to work at U-M and remember the wages being terrible. I also used to spend a LOT of time at The Ark. I think I'm getting old because I wax nostalgic for the "old" A2. Is WimpyBurgers still on Davidson? Probably not.

I'll stop with the reminiscing. Nice to touch base with you. I'll definitely drop you a line when we're out that way, this summer. We'll for sure be in A2 and Chelsea.
