For the past 11yrs I bought my daughter whatever she wanted plus some extra things I thought she'd like. Looking back, I spent/ got her WAY too much. Over the last few years, I was kinda

I don't put a dollar limit on it, but my kids get 4 gifts from me, and 1 from Santa. I don't mean I spend whatever, it has to fit in my budget, but I don't make sure I spend the same amount on each kid, or under $X. Does that make sense? So the 4 gifts my kids get are something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. Whatever Santa brings is never, ever cooler than whatever I can bring! I used to try so hard to be sure that I spent the same amount on each kid, that they had the same number of gifts.... I drove myself crazy, way over spend, bought too much stuff.

$200-$300 each this year. Thats high for us, were really excited to be able to spoil them a little. We dont do credit so what we can spend flexes with the years. :) But my husband is great about making sure we buy for the kids before Thanksgiving. This way the holidays is fun for ALL of us. I would totally sweat where the money was going to come from otherwise.

We are on a cash only system for the holidays.

It depends on our financial situation, but this year we spent about $175 on her. It's not really a dollar amount that we set. I mean, we know if we have the money or not - but we have certain things we want to get for her. Mostly it's the stuff we never had when we were younger.

We spent about $200 this year on our son; albeit a bit high, but we did get him things that we knew were on his list and what we knew he'd play with.

We've probably spent between $200-$300 for our 2.5 year old. We have a ton of stuff for that price, though, as we did all black friday shopping.

I don't want to spoil him, either, but it is difficult for us as we both were very poor growing up.... But I think that is appropriate for us.
