I'm in a frugal rut, a financial rut and a life rut!!!! Am I the only one who is?

Sometimes I feel so burned out on the frugal thing, especially cooking and grocery shopping. I cook everyday and

Ok, wow. You're freaking me out. No, you are not alone. It's a huge part of the depression I've been going through.

When there is money, I can spend some on my hobbies and interests. But now, without money, I can't really justify going out just because I'm bored.

And I'm at the same place as you with the kid thing. Now that my daughter is 14, it's supposed to be my time to develop some new interests, take some classes, start a business. Something. And yet there's no money to risk on any of that.

So I'm just trying to take the time to catch up on a few organizational things and ride it out.

But yes, I feel bored, angry, frustrated, irritated, STUPID, and uninteresting.

I am trying to read more books and do some "life" coaching on myself so I'm in a better place soon.

Yes, I feel like I am in a rut too...

there have been so many stressful events in my life in the past 6 years, starting with getting cancer, then losing both my parents, dh being laid off several times, both kids and dh being in the hospital last year and now swine flu fears with my asthmatic ds sneezing today....I feel like I have had about all I can take...

but hopefully tomorrow will be a good day for all of us. Please know you aren't alone.

Yes, absolutely! Big, huge, depressing rut!!! I am so over it.

My DH has been self employed for over 4 years now... which has translated into working constantly and hardly ever getting paid. He figured out that he has made in 4 years about 1/2 of the salary he made in ONE year at his previous job! It is seriously a miracle that we are still eating and not living in a cardboard box. We have maxed out our credit cards, taken on huge amounts of debt, and have had to cash in his 401K which we have been living on the last several months. It is so incredibly frustrating and depressing. I was a SAHM when this all started... then started subbing at my youngest child's preschool (he is now in 2nd grade!), then subbing at the elementary school, then a daily aide at school but my job was eliminated this year... and now I am back to subbing during the day and added a retail job some nights... and about to start a second retail job on the other nights. Although I don't mind the hard work, and DH can be home with the kids since he works from home, what really grates at me is that even with me working 3 jobs, it still is not enough money to cover our expenses!! And of course it also really grates on me that DH is not getting paid and has allowed it to go on for soooooo long and I am just stuck here feeling very little hope. He is trying, but try harder!!! Our marriage is suffering too, and I am in a constant state of worry/anger. I am so tired of it all.

I totally understand the feeling of just wanting things to change, get better, do something!!! It is exhausting always feeling like you're digging out, barely making it through... and the constant worry about how long is it going to be like this?!? It sucks.

Hang in there!

p.s. Have you considered a seasonal retail job just for something new to do? I was hired on the spot for the two I applied for. Pay is lousy, but it's kinda fun to be doing something new with new people!

Big hugs to you. I see you live in southern CA where the economy is pretty tough - but perhaps a seasonal job like suggested in another post or just temping?
