I don't know Kelly, I think it's ok for retailers to advertise limited quantities--after all how many of those large items can they sell at a rock bottom price? I thought the article assumes there are too many stupid shoppers. I disagree...I think there are plenty of stupid people, don't get me wrong. :) But the reason they all line up so early in the morning is to get that item that they already know is in limited quantity. I don't particularly like the fact that you have to scratch and claw to actually get it and that's why I don't partake in any of those large purchases. Last year was my first black Friday. I got to Walmart literally right after they opened. I passed people carrying their big tv's and whatnot and it was pretty crowded in the electronics dept. but I did get everything I had on my list to purchase there. Actually, once you got out of electronics the rest of the store was really manageable and I found people to be helpful (i.e., Oh I just saw those jammies you're looking for over there, etc.).

I read htat article yesterday. If you look at the ads it does say in limited quanities for the doorbusters and mega sale items. I do believe that the electronics, especially the TVs are derivitives and not the same as the other TVs that they are selling, but if you are wanting a good deal, it is still worth it. I got a TV after thanksgiving 5 years ago , at Walmart for about $70 dollars and it lasted 3 years, until the tube blew. It worked for what we wanted.

I do Black Friday, only when it is worth it, you know what I mean? It has to be an item I was planning on buying and it needs to be a good deal. This year the jury is still out on whether we are braving the Black Friday Sales or not.
