Hi.. Im new here. Im a stay at home mom with two wonderful girls, ages 12 & (almost) 4yrs. In the last few years I've been trying to find ways to save money & know exactly where the money goes. We live in a small town with only one grocery store, which unfortunately, is a very high priced one, so it's been a journey. Recently I tried making my own automatice dishwasher detergent ( I got the recipe from a book)

I agree with you and Jen. I only buy Cascade now. I buy the liquid, it works best for me. I live in a state that doesn't allow selling dishwasher detergent that has phosphate in it (it' s not illegal to own or buy, go figure) so when I'm in another area, I stock up heavily, sale or no sale, coupons or no, I still stock up. I tried making my own detergent and got lousy results. Things seemed not clean and like they were covered in a film. Now, from time to time, I'll wash with only baking soda and can get away with that for 2-3 washes, then I have to go back to the real stuff.

For the record, I also didn't care for how my clothes came out with home made laundry soap, either. I tried 3 batches, over a years time, no great results.

No help from me on this topic because I just buy mine. But I did want to welcome you to the board!
