October Goals

Do you have any specific goals for October?

1. Declutter---clean off computer desk, go through old software, go thru a drawer of little junkie toys.

2. Keep the computer desk CLEAN!

3. Order credit reports for dh & myself from one of the agencies. Find the opt-out info and opt 19ds out of getting cc offers. (I've noticed those have started coming for him.)

FWIW, I track clothing separately from of the nonfood household stuff. That gives me a realistic picture of what I spend in both categories. My *household* tracking includes things like cleaning supplies, toiletries, stamps, dogfood, batteries, etc. Just an idea that might help you come up w/a good picture on what you spend on nonfood items. HTH!

1. I also have to declutter, I have to sort things in the basement too.

2. Make the Christmas Cards.

3. Prepare for winter. I'll look for food deals and stock-up and buy most of what I need for the holiday season.

Since I'm unemployed now, I have more time on my hands so not only am I going to accomplish these goals, but I'm going to make October a pretty challenging month.

1. Add some structure to our days. DD and I mostly lounge around most days.I tried to do story time at the library, but she was *not* into that. I need to find some other way to add structure to the days (besides lunch and nap being at a set time, lol).

2. Create (and stick to) a cleaning schedule.

3. Finish the book I'm on (The No-Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers) plus one more (I'm thinking potty training).

4. Clean out our filing box. There's a lot of old stuff I no longer need and not much space for stuff we do need. I'm thinking that some of it can be scanned into the computer and burned to a disc so I don't have to keep the same old stuff forever.

5. Figure out of the Financial Assistance I received from Kaiser will work without insurance (the letter implies that it does but isn't exactly clear). If so, I need to schedule an OB/GYN exam.

6. Schedule eye doctor appointment.

7. Donate blood - supposed to be October 7th, but now I have 3 appointments that day.

8. Continue to create meals based on foods we have so I can cut back on my spending and overstocking.

9. Sew the corner of our comforter that has fluffy stuff oozing out of it.

10. Clean out the 2 drawers in DH's office.

11. Workout on the Wii for 2 hours each week.

12. Get our fall clothes to the consignment store (leftover from last month). I still haven't found a consignment stote in our area for adult clothing so we're taking them to the one in Michigan when we go for drill. I'd like to find one closer.

13. Complete the application for energy assistance.

14. Get the oil changed in both cars.

15. Put DD's drawings into her art book. I haven't been keeping up on putting her stuff in there since DH made the book :(

My October goals include :

  • Purging items that I have no use for. I would like to get rid of at least 2-3 boxes of "stuff"
  • Organize my sewing stuff, purge what is of no use to me.
  • Stay within our budget for the month of October. Any left overs go to the mortgage principal.
  • Learn to cook something new.
  • Spend more quality time with my teens....reconnect.

I need to create a budget, figure out exactly what the heck I am doing each month, and make a PLAN!
