Looking back over the past year, what are some of your favorite accomplishments?

I can say I did not spend as much in 2009 as I did in 2008.

We spent the first quarter of 2009 waiting to find out if DH was getting laid off.

2009 was a rough year for us. Started off rocky, ended up divorced. Still trying to sort out the whole "single parenting" and "sharing kids" thing. I've done the single parenting thing before, I'm good at it, but I've never had to share the kids before, so that's new. And my finances are so tight, they squeek. I'm sure wishing I had asked for spousal support. I didn't lose any of the weight I vowed to lose, not one single pound. And my bp is up, so that's not good. It's truly been a year of misery, just as the pastor swore he was praying over me. My mom has been in the hospital more or less since October, My son snuck off and got married, my dad is ill and in denial, my siblings blame me for the load on my dad, I'm struggling in school, having to work a part time job, overall tough life.

BUT, we are still here, we are still fighting. I have amazing children who I adore. I'm seeing an amazing man. I got to witness the birth of kittens. My car is still running.

Given our circumstances w/dh being out of work for about 15 mo. now, I feel pretty good about how we did in 2009. Our years of living within or below our means has really paid off when it comes to our financees. Here are my goals and analysis. 1st quarter in green, 2nd quarter progress in red, and 3rd quarter in blue, 4th quarter in purple.....

Financial: Use as little as possible from our *job EF*. Keep scrutinizing the budget every month to see where we can save some $$. Hard to believe, but after 7 months of dh being out of work, we have still NOT touched our *job EF*. Don't ask me how because I can barely believe that myself!! Just goes to show how bare-bones our budget already was because we have not made that many drastic changes. One other financial biggie we've done since the 1st of the year is pay off our travel trailer, about 4-1/2 years early; I decided to go ahead & pull the $$ out of savings and be done with it (even w/dh out of work). So we're back to only mortgage

Well 2009 wasn't that bad for me. I did get six out of ten for my goals. I'm happy about that. I do know that 2010 will be even better. There are a couple of 2010 goals that are the same as 09 so I will have to work harder on those. :)) Christmas was planned this year which was great, not one thing went on cc. :)

The start of 2009 was not that great. Our heating bill was over $300 each month. I ended up going back to work in Feb, which resulted in me not being able to nurse my son anymore. In June I stopped working and stopped getting unemployment so we lost a chunk of income.

It did start to look up in the middle of the year. We got my car paid off, our couch paid off, and in the fall, my student loan paid off. We also got our power bill paid off. Moved into a newer/ nicer place.

I know 2010 is going to be better for us money wise.
