What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Will you be cooking Thanksgiving dinner or going to someone's house? Any plans to shop on Black Friday?

We'll be going to my mom's for dinner. LOL, I've made it 49 years w/out having to cook the dinner!!

Well we will have a crazy thanksgiving. Dh's family lives in Chicago, we live 5 hours south. We typically go up every other Thanksgiving and this is our year to go. After much discussion we all realized that none of us really want to spend our holiday weekend up there. Soooooo we decided to drive up thanksgiving morning, have dinner at 2 with the whole extended family and then leave to drive all the way home about 7pm that night. That way we will be home to decorate and relax for the next 3 days.

I may go out on Black Friday to shop, I am mostly done but I wait closer to Christmas to buy clothing in case it doesnt fit, that way they may get to exchange it for the same item.

You must live near me Tawnya..we're about the same distance south of Chicago.

As for us, it is going to be a very low-key Thanksgiving as usual. My mom's side of the family is pretty much non-existent since she and both of my grandparents on that side passed away in 2004, so I hardly ever see anyone from that side. DH's family celebrates the weekend before, because that way everyone else doesn't have to run around trying to get to 2 or more family feasts now that most are married with kids. So we will have our big family dinner (lunch this year) on Sunday at DH's aunt and uncle's house. We'll bring the standard, a strawberry pretzel salad thing. And then with any luck I will be joining a friend in the evening to go and see New Moon :)

Actually, unsure as usual.

We had planned to go out of town with friends to Arizona, however, we both realized our motorhome is a little unreliable and we can't get the work done in time. And it's kind of long way and a lot of money to spend 2 days.

So since dh was planning on taking a day off, I asked him if he would consider going and doing something with me and dd since she has the entire week off. I suggested the aquarium or a museum. He put me off until tonight. So once again, we have no holiday plans. I think I'm also going to take dd to Disneyland one day since we haven't been in years and damn it, I feel like it.

I'll probably cook on Thursday if we're home. My neighbor's husband usually works that day as a flight attendant, so I'll invite her and her daughter if we're home.

The question is, WHEN WILL I KNOW???????

(Get the feeling this is an issue at my house????????? I married a man who has no regard for holidays, no rituals, and is a workaholic.)

My plans for Thanksgiving are: On Thanksgiving, I will be having dinner at my Sister's house with my family. We will partake (possibilty) some Black Friday Shopping, then we will be heading North on Friday to my husband's family. After spending the weekend North, we will come home just in time for me to go to work on Monday.

I can totally understand the "when will I know" thing. We have that ALL THE TIME w/dh's side of the family. It's actually quite a shock that sil has already decided to do the dinner. It's kind of far in advance for them, lol!

Dh knows that I'm a planner so it really irks me that he never tries to find out in advance what's going on w/his family for the holidays!

Sounds like an exciting Thanksgiving Kelly! You deserve a little pampering after the past year!

as for our Thanksgiving, I am not too excited about it. :-P I guess we will have to go to dh's parents But if we go there Thanksgiving, that means we can stay home on Christmas day! Holidays just aren't the same without my Mom and Dad.

Black Friday sales depend on if dh has a job...I would rather avoid the craziness if possible.

We'll be hosting DH's family at our house this year. My Big oven of my Double oven doesn't work, so MIL will be making the turkey and stuffing. One of my SILs won't be there because of some drama that just happened with the other SILs, BIL and his family won't get there until late because of 2 other family thanksgivings to go to because his MIL and his Aunt-in-law don't get along.

My mom's family is having something during the day thankgiving that I won't be able to make it.

On the weekend we will be going to my dad's family on Saturday - which will be a nice relaxing day.

I will not be shopping black fridays sales - though I will have to drive by all the big stores to take DH to work that day.

I wish family's all just got along. Holidays bring out so much drama and I'm starting to hate them

Fortunately, Thanksgiving will be simple as usual.
