Looking back over the past year, what are some of your favorite accomplishments?

2010 was once again weird for us financially. Dh was basically self-employed but hoping for a union job at the beginning of the year. About March, he did get a union job, though lower-paying than what he had back in 2008. But he was laid off from that back in mid-November and is now back to the self-employed thing again. Through all of that we did ok. My financial goals were.....

1. Sending extra each month to our mortgage to be applied to principal.

" I didn't make any resolutions, because I have found those to be completely useless for me (and a great source of guilt and self-criticism.)"
AMEN!

The only thing I didn't accomplish from my list was losing the rest of the weight; I did lose 18 of the 33 lbs I wanted to lose. I have actually gained back 5 lbs so I have 20 to lose now :(

I think my year was pretty good - financially and otherwise. Not only did we get our first foster child (still with us!), but I was laid off and with unemployment and not paying child care, I'm actually better off than I was before! I've been able to spend most of the last 1/3 of the year with my DD, which has been my dream since I got pregnant 3 years ago. I've been doing good managing our finances, have cut back eating out and buying clothes for DD, and have my car paid several months in advance. It's been good :)

I stopped making new years resolutions a couple of years ago, that was my resolution for that year, and the only one I ever kept! LOL

For 2010, it was a pretty good year. I finished nursing school, well the RN portion anyway, I still need the Bachelors degree to be happy. But it was a huge, difficult accomplishment and I'm very proud of that.

Overall, no one got seriously ill until just this month. My dd will be sick for several weeks to come at the rate she's going, and she's about 6-8 weeks into her illness now. It's just not fun for any of us. We all got the holiday nasty cold, every single one of us. 2010 also brought me our first grandchild (who was also not exempt from that cold) and afforded me the terrific opportunity to use what I know and help my DIL have the birth she and that baby deserved and wanted. I think I handled obstacles with grace, usually under pressure. My honey moved into my home and recently asked me to marry him. Budget wise, I found just yesterday that I have an outstanding credit score, in addition to the fact that I've been able to live within my means the entire year in spite of being dirt poor! It was a good year, but I won't be sad to see it go, either.
