This is the start of a new month and I have decided to take all the money I earn from babysitting and put it into savings. At the end of the month I want to take the money and pay off a bill. So far, so good.

Photobucket thanks to belle_petite for the awesome siggy!!

Hi Lacey,

I am new to this board and probably a lot older than you (hint, my oldest kid is 28)!

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. My husband is 28. :-)

Right now we live paycheck to paycheck and HATE it! Dh is just starting to really understand this. I've always been pretty good about paying my bills but I'm made some poor choices about that. Until I met my DH. Then I realized that I needed to buckle down, if we were ever going to be the family that I want us to be. Its taken two years and a baby for DH to get it. He wants us to live debt free and not like his parents do (still paycheck to paycheck).

We have two bills that we owe less than $100 on. I really want to pay these off. So far this year we have paid off my car,a $2500 loan dh had, our couch and my student loan. All of this with me no longer working. And we only ended up getting about $800 back in taxes (the loan dh had was w/ the gov't and it got paid right out of our taxes). This year with our taxes we will be paying off another car (we own three, 1 is paid for, the other is being bought from my parents, and the third one no longer runs, long story), and possibly other bills.

Also we should be getting a pay raise soon. :-)

I read a lot of Dave Ramsey, and hopefully next year I can start adding $25 to Dh's car payment (the one that doesn't run) to hopefully get it paid off sooner.

How amazing it is that your house is almost paid for! That is wonderful! I love being frugal or thrifty. :-) I am fortunate enough to have help from my parents too. Although we have only asked when it will effect Jacob (ie diapers or finger food). Which is getting to be fewer and further between.

Thanks for letting me know that there is a positive end result to all our hard work!
