Carol,

Sounds like you need to get a really good pantry list going, so that you can plan ahead enough to get what you need for the month or even just 2 weeks at Save-a-lot and Aldi.

hello!! i understand totally. i work at a grocery store-and they used to have wonderful outstanding deals...but lately not so much. we do the majority of our shopping at walmart or this other lil hole-in-the-wall place because they have better prices. i used to live right around the corner from my work-so if i would need something, id run up there to get it-and once there i would usually find other things i needed. then id go to walmart in a few days and find great deals on the stuff i already bought.

I'm not sure where you live but do you have some kind of public transportation? In this area, we have something called "Your Ride".. you call them and they send out a car or van to pick you up and take you where you need/want to go. It's very inexpensive (I think it's only $1 or $2) and they will either a) wait for you or b) come back for you at a set time. That would be better than spending money at a very expensive store.

I was just talked to my Dh about the exact same thing! I went food shopping at a local Winn-Dixie store, and here in our town, they probably have the lowest prices of any of the normal groceries...except for maybe Super Walmart. Anyway, I saw Bacon, and I thought, "Well, we haven't had that in awhile", and I started to reach for it, and then I saw the shelf sticker....$7.49!!! For a pound of bacon that used to cost $3.99 or sometimes as little as $2.50 not too too long ago. Unreal. It just sickens me how much food costs.

It really makes me want to eat smaller portions to save on my investment. LOL! Hmm...maybe that's a way for me to lose some weight. :)

They're prices went way up.

the prices at our wonder store shot up here too. (im in mi)it used to be you could go in there and spend 30 bucks and walk out with 5 or 6 bags of stuff. now youre lucky if you end up with 2 or 3 bags. the multi packs of snack cakes run 2.40 apiece...at the store, the "fresh" runs 3.00 apiece. yeah its 60 cents, but it used to be like a dollar 60 or more. i do buy stuff there, but not as much as i used to. take care!
