TWG tip--week 1

From The Complete Tightwad Gazette, p.380---"To extend the lives of burners on an electric range, rotate them just as you would tires on a car. It evens out the wear."

Ok, this is not a biggie as far as everyday savings type of a thing. And if you have a gas range, it's not going to work for you. However, it spoke to me after having to replace the heating element of our 23yo oven. And it made sense as I tend to use the same 2 burners most of the time on my stove. So today I'll be rotating them as well as doing a thorough cleaning of my stove. (The top lifts up & I'm sure it's pretty nasty under there, lol!) Major appliances are so expensive. Anything that helps them last longer is a good thing!

Will you be able to use this tip? Or, if you're re-reading the TWG, have you found another tip you'll be implementing this week?

Ah, using a tip from the "Complete Tightwad Gazette", I will be attempting to fix several zippers with "zipper stops". I had these items in a pile because I knew they could be fixed but didn't know how.

I have a glasstop stove, so I won't be able to use this tip now, but I'll keep it in mind.
What is the zipper stops- scoopsmommy?
I think I am going to put a bucket in the freezer to add leftovers. I have never done such a thing, but it sounds interesting.

No, this isn't useful to us; we put in a gas cooktop last summer.
