Hi everyone,
I'm new to the board but I've been lurking. I am wondering if anyone has ever done a comparison of the prices at Walmart vs Aldi? I love both stores but I am looking to save even more right now so what are your opinions?
Thanks!

Welcome to the board!

There are no Aldis in my area, so I can't answer your question.

If you look in any store, you'll find a lot of their products aren't American made products anymore. As for treating their associates poorly, not all are mistreated. I'm not speaking for every store, but I will speak for the one where I worked and they treat their people well.

I don't know about every item, but I used to travel to Aldi (about a 45-minute drive) specifically to get canned goods.

Can foods and crackers are still cheaper at Aldis for me. Kidney beans are .49 cents a can at Aldi, but .82 at Walmart. Almost all of the crackers(wheat/saltines/graham) are still much cheaper at Aldi. Flour tortillas are .99 cents for 10, and they always beat WM for potatoes, carrots, green peppers, and avocados.

I know what you mean. I don't shop at Aldi (it's like 25 minutes away where as Walmart is only 5 and Save-A-Lot is 10). However, I was SO disappointed a few weeks ago. I went to Save-A-Lot specifically to get baby food. It was 8 cents a jar cheaper. When you go through 3 jars a day, it makes a difference. I was excited to stock up on them - until I looked at the price. It had gone up 10 cents a jar, making it 2 cents a jar more expensive than Walmart. Not a major difference, but SAL is supposed to be cheaper. I was so disappointed and decided to just pick things up at Walmart.

Well for me I prefer Aldis not only because of low prices but also because of the SMALL selection. I am just horrid about impulse buys and being in Walmart or a Meijers just has too much for me to ooh and ahh over and grab without thinking! So Aldis saves me even more in that respect!

No Matter where you shop, you need to know your prices.
