It seems like it's easy for some families to be green, while others struggle with it.

I recycle. It's the law here. I don't have a car. I walk most places, and take the bus if it's too far to walk. I buy used items when I can.

I love our reusable shopping bags. Do you have to take your recyclables to a center yourself or does your town/city provide pick-up? Our town will do pick-ups of recyclables the day after they get the trash.

We like to take our bikes when the weather permits. It was tough not being able to go on family bike rides when DD was a baby (of course, that was right when DS was able to bike on his own). Now, we can all go places on our bikes together. Nothing is close enough for us to walk, but we do OK on bicycles.

You certainly pay the difference in rent to live where you can walk most places, but in our case it's pretty much a necessity. SO is blind and living in the city allows him to get around on his own, so it's worth it. It's also a really good excuse not to get a dog. Lol. I really don't want a dog anyway, but I told him not unless we have a yard.

Let me know how you like the reusable sandwich bags. I remember looking at them last year, but then I forgot. We've been using the Bento Buddies for DS. They work out well.
