DSS learned yesterday that he has been awarded a full out of state tuition merit-based scholarship to his #1 choice school (worth $22,000 a year) renewable for 4 years!!!


Based on my calculations,that, added to the $7,200 scholarship he also received from them based on his SATs and the

Congratulations to him on the merit based scholarship! That is great! And I am glad that it was for his #1 choice too.

Congrats to him. The need based shouldn't conflict with academic.

As a recent grad I wanted to point this out- the scholarship will stay the same regardless if tuition goes up. He may want to keep any overage in case that happens.

Luckily, I looked into the details of the larger of the two scholarships and it is setup specifically as a "full out of state tuition" scholarship (not as a dollar amount one) so that its value does go up with the price of tuition (pretty cool-I never would have thought of that).
