And they look awesome! I got a DIY highlighting kit at WM for $9 it came with the cap and hook and coloring tray and was super easy. My last highlight job cost $70 and faded out in under 6 weeks. My hair just doesn't hold color well so there isn't much point in investing a lot of money into it but I thought I would try the DIY thing once to see how it turned out (I bought a back-up box of dye just in case it went really wrong lol!) so now I'm hooked!

that's great! I used to get highlights at the salon but I stopped going a couple of years ago because it is so expensive. I've wanted to do it myself for some time but I'm worried it will end up looking too stripey. If you don't mind my asking, what color is your hair and what color highlights did you use?

I have dark brown hair and I did blond highlights. I used Revlon and it didn't give me a stripy kind of highlight. It really looks very natural. It is more of an ash blond on me, not a straight yellow so it blends really well.

I've been doing my sisters hair for years using the box from Wal-Mart.
