job flop

I accepted a supplemental job about a month or so ago, which should have had me busy nearly every day thru the fall months. It's with an immunization company and I was told that I'd be able to choose as many or as few shifts as I could handle, I was told that these flu clinics would be held in businesses and store fronts. I feel like I was mis-lead. All the clinics are held in the same chain stores and they are all full day shifts. I thought I'd be able to pick up short shifts, like 3-5 hours, in the evenings (noon on, after I get off from my other job). These are LONG shifts, like over 9 hours each. The only ones I'm available to do are on the weekends! UG I don't mind too much because I will just work every weekend that my kids are gone to their dads, and I will be earning some money, but no where near the amount of hours (and therefore, money!) that I thought I was getting into. I could only get 7 shifts in 8 weeks! Blah, it's frustrating.

Ugh! That really stinks. At least you can get some shifts in over the weekend. Still, I'd feel a bit misled too. Would they be willing to schedule you for shorter shifts even though those shifts aren't officially listed?

I don't know about shorter shifts, or even who to ask. It's a little impersonal, with almost everything being done online.

My sil is going to do that. She's a nurse out of work at the moment. She said they hired her to do the flue shots at various places. They pay 22$ an hour. She told them she is available any hours or days they throw at her. She's hoping they give her lots of hours.

I wonder if she is with the same company, it's possible since they are nation wide. They keep calling me for extra hours, which I can't do, and to travel out of town. They will pay drive time, but then I'd work a 10 hour shift with an hour or better drive at both ends. I dunno about that! I wish they offered shifts that are split up, so you could work the first half, the second half or the whole thing.

I never asked her. She said she'd be at different locations working. So maybe she is.
