hello everyone!! i have complained about my inlaws on other boards before and my one sil always acts like shes better than everyone else. she always has a comment, she always says stuff that irks me, etc. but she is one of the more frugal people in his family. she will buy generic stuff, look for deals on craigs list and ebay, buy used whenever possible, etc. but we were discussing school supplies a few weeks ago and i have a HUGE basket full of crayons. i went through before school started and threw out any that were broken or teeny tiny...she said to me "why would you do that? i would have just thrown the whole basket of them out and bought a new box of like 96 and started again..." i just shrugged my shoulders and let it go...but inside im screaming "WHY??? WHY WASTE 5 OR 6 DOLLARS ON A NEW BOX OF CRAYONS WHEN I ALREADY HAVE PROBABLY 400 PERFECTLY GOOD ONES IN THE BASKET??"

I still have all of my yearbooks, from second grade on through high school.

I think just as with everything else, people feel their way is best. So HER frugal ways should be everyone's frugal ways.

That's irritating. I would have done the same thing with the crayons as you did, and I completely disagree with her that a yearbook is a waste of money. I loved my elementary school yearbooks. Everyone in class would sign each other's books, and they are keepsakes. I'd go so far as to even call it a frugal victory.
