A friend and now new neighbor of mine is growing this nice garden. She's got tomatoes Roma and big boy kind, green and red peppers, cucumbers and green beans. Her garden is producing lots. Not that it's all ripe ready for picking. But the garden is doing well. She don't have a car anymore and isn't driving. She had wanted someone to run out and get her some gas for the lawn mower. But she didn't have a gas can either. When she was fully moved in back in late June. But land lord is her friend from church. Said she could come around early and get her garden started. Even gave her a month of free rent for helping out fixing up around the inside of the house. She was using up gas her land lord left in the lawn mower. So I and my son went up to the gas station. Got a 1 gallon can and some gas. Walked it across the street. She asked what she owes. I said in trade for some veggies out of your garden. We'll call it even. She's like Ok. I got a couple cucumbers today. When other stuff ripens up. She will give me other veggies. Based on grocery store prices. I came out ahead buying a plastic gas can a gallon of gas. She too is just making it on her Social Security and her deceased dh's pension money. Which is why she does a garden every summer.

What a great compromise! I love fresh garden veggies. How long has she been your neighbor?
