Well, ds has been away for a week now. He had a few days of orientation and then classes started last Thurs. This is his 1st full week of classes.

For easier reading, I'm going to break my 1st college expense reports into a couple. I'm still getting my numbers together for what I spent and also for some of the misc. stuff that ds paid for.

This 1st report is about ds's costs for tuition, room & board and misc. fees for his 1st semester. Here's the breakdown......

That's awesome! Wow, I hope when it's college time for DD she will be eligible for some scholarships. She is a freshman this year, so fingers crossed:)

I think you are in MO? My niece is a junior in hs this year, and I am trying to get her to look at some colleges besides the one that is local to her. There are some really good ones, I'm trying to get her to broaden her horizons. I have been talking up Truman State, although I used to work at MU and really am a Tiger at heart(and love Columbia!).

Yes, in MO. And ds is at Truman! I was familiar w/it as my sister and some friends went there. (It was still NE MO State back then.) The school just made some US World & News Report college list. If I can find the link, I'll post it for you.

Another good one in MO is MO State down in Springfield. I went there back in the day when it was SW MO State.

If she's in MO and does well on her ACT, she can get Bright Flight. That's the state scholarship ds got. All seniors scoring in the top 3% of MO students taking the test are eligible. Ds's is $2k, renewable for 5 years. But I'm pretty sure it goes up this year to $3k, renewable for 5 years.
