Hi, and welcome

Who Diagnosed the first time? If it was not a Neuropsychologist, then you really should have her re evaluated.

Only tried one med?

A child may HAVE ADHD, but it is not what they ARE. Never tell a child they ARE ADHD.

You've described classic ADHD-inattentive there. But, of course, you *can* get the same symptoms from a learning disability. Though, honestly, I don't think you get trouble brushing teeth from a LD?

Please be aware she could well be BOTH ADHD-inattentive AND have a learning disability. That's very common.

OK, back-when, you tried ONE med? And what happened? And how confident are you that the prescribing Dr knew what they were talking about? I mean, too low or too high a dose can be a nightmare, just-right is lovely. You can have melt-downs when the meds wear off, it's called rebound; that tends to go away with time.

I will *NEVER* understand school districts flunking kids and not testing for LD, because, frankly, that's insane. I do recommend the wright's law web site for information about your rights as a parent; even if she's "just" ADHD, you can get a 504 or IEP depending on what extra help she needs.

If you trust your school to test adequately for the LD, I'd hit the ADHD first, frankly, because if she is, dealing with the LD is much easier if she's got the ADHD under control.

ADHD-inattentive often responds to meds; haven't yet heard anyone here say it responds well to anything else, frankly, except maybe very mild cases (and you aren't describing mild!). All those "diet", etc., etc., things tend to be treating the other ADHD things (hyperactivity, impulsivity).

CHADD has a pretty good website for information; there are lots of good ADHD books out there (and a bunch of awful ones), check your library.
