Hi, I'm new here, just wanted to drop in and ask a question? My dd takes 7.5mg tablet of adderall, for her adhd, and I just found out(by a $26.60 increase in copay)that they now have generics out for adderall. Can anyone help me to find out exactly when they came out w/the generic form. I have to say I had a big surprise at the pharmacy today, normally our copay is only $15, but since I took brand instead of generic I had to pay $41.60 total. Niether the pharmacist nor I could figure out why the increase, and when I called the insurance company they told me about the generic. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I just checked online with my presciption benefit and it says there is no generic for Adderall/Adderall XR.

You may want to call and find why they say there is.

I'm not sure about the Adderall xr, but the insurance company said maybe a month and a half ago. I'm trying to find out myself but am having a hard time. It was a total suprise to me when I went to pay, and then I called the insurance co. and she called the pharmacy while I was on hold. She said the pharmacist should have got a notice and had the generics in stock., but he did not have them in stock, and who knows if he was notified. It would have been nice for someone to notify me, otherwise I would have made sure he had the generics. It could be the pharmacist wanted to get rid of what he already had instock and forced me to buy them. I'm frustrated, cause what I paid extra is almost two months worth of meds. Thank You for replying. Angela
